SGS participated in the International Mining Conference in Australia

The Saudi Geological Survey and the Deputy Ministry of Energy, Industry, and Mineral Resources participated in the International Mining and Resources Conference and Exhibition held in Melbourne, Australia from the 29th Oct to 1st of Nov 2018.

The President of the SGS, also the head of the delegation, Engr. Hussein Bin Mana Al-Otaibi, said that the objective of SGS participation in this conference is to introduce the mining strategy undertaken by the SGS and several other government bodies in Saudi Arabia, along with the initiatives arising from it, which will contribute significantly to the realization of the Saudi Vision 2030 through the development of investment opportunities in the fields of geology and mineral resources and the exchange of technical and information expertise among relevant bodies.

He pointed out that the SGS and the Deputy Ministry presented several scientific posters that are related to the mining strategy and mineral deposit maps, technical brochures, as well as a visual introduction to the mining strategy and the national geological database. He also noted the importance of mineral resources, as they constitute one of Saudi Arabia’s main sources of income, in fact, the third largest source after petroleum and petrochemicals.
