The Industrial Applications Laboratory contributes to the development and support of the mining industry through the conduct of projects and research related to the methods of on the processing, evaluation, and development of various raw minerals in the industrial and mining fields. In accordance with the 2030 Vision, the laboratory helps in providing opportunities for mining investments for discovered minable materials. One of the most important services provided by this SGS laboratory relates to the evaluation and treatment of raw mineral materials, such as the separation and the concentration of kaolin and feldspars, and the use of industrial wastes, such the dusts of cement factories applied to the manufacture of glass and ceramic glass. In addition to the study of the beneficial uses of effluent mining materials, such as mine and quarry waste materials and some natural rock materials, such as silica sands and granite and basalt rocks. The SGS laboratories are equipped with the state-of-the-art equipment that facilitate the production processes.
Thermal Tests
The laboratory is equipped to study the thermal behavior of melting mixed glasses and ceramic samples in special templates and can processed the samples thermally in special furnaces discovery and verify their industrial applications.
Thermal Furnaces
The laboratory maintains equipment for the thermal melting and the preparation of glass and ceramic samples.
Thermal furnace with heating capability of up to 1,600oC.
Thermal Furnace with a heating capacity of up to 1,300oC.
Differential Thermal Analyzer (DTA)
The DTA (Shimadzu DTG60) measures the weight changes, thermal stability, oxidations, glass transformations, transition temperatures, and crystallization behavior of samples.
Differential Thermal Analyzer (Shimadzu DTG60).
Dilatometer
Studies on the expansion and shrinkage properties of materials using controlled thermal process use the dilatometer (Netzsch DIL 402), which was installed in the laboratory.
