Regional Magnetic Aerial Surveys

Detailed regional magnetic survey was conducted in the central and western areas of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during the first four decades of the last century mainly under the auspices of the Deputy Ministry for Mineral Resources. The data are archived by the Saudi Geological Survey. The full magnetic aerial survey data for the western part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia were obtained from 1962 to 1984. These surveys were regional and the nominal survey altitudes reached 300 m above the earth’s surface. Recently, the survey data have been integrated in order to create a regional compound magnetic data file for the central and western parts of the Kingdom. It is shown here as maps for the full magnetic field that has been transformed to the pole and as a Grey measurement map for the first vertical derivation for the full field that has been transformed to the pole.
